The Shanghairen cover

Collaboration for The Shanghairen project

Blue, black and red ballpoint pen

on 160gr Canson paper.

I pay tribute to the rich heritage and culture of Shanghai. With this illustration I connect modernity and tradition through the subtle reflection of the flowing water in the Huangpu River. Life runs through it, giving way to new generations and historical moments and connecting past, present and future.

The Shanghairen project

The Shanghairen is a creative project created by hundreds of illustrators from Shanghai and all over the world. It is a tribute to the iconic illustrator cover of “The New Yorker” magazine, and it is also the continuation of the inspiration of “Parisianer” and “Tokyoiter”. With personal perspective and style, the illustrator is completely free to create the Shanghai in his mind.
